How to make a video slideshow for YouTube

In order to know how to make a video slideshow for YouTube, first of all save all the photos that you want to make a slideshow of in a particular folder in your PC. Then go to YouTube’s upload page with url https://www.youtube.com/upload. There in the lower-right corner of the screen you’ll see the following section:

Click on the ‘Create’ button under the ‘Photo slideshow’ thing. You will see a dialogue box where you will see three tabs. You will click on the ‘Upload photos’ tab. (If you want to make a slideshow out of previously uploaded photos, then you will have to click on ‘Photo albums’ or ‘Your photos’ tab. In case of ‘Photo albums’, after adding an album select your desired photos and delete the rest by using the cancel/cross button. You can now add even more photos from another album or upload a few new.)

In case of uploading new photos, you need to click on the blue ‘Select photos from your computer’ button and find the location of the photos to be uploaded and finally select and upload them. When the photos are finished uploading, you will get to see how many photos have been uploaded and also the photos themselves. At the bottom of that page, click on the ‘Next’ button now. At the following page, in the lower portion you will get to see this: (This article is on How to make a video slideshow for YouTube.)

Suppose you are preparing this slideshow for a cover song or a short biography which has a duration of 7 minutes. Now if you have uploaded plenty of pics then you can choose a short ‘Slide duration’ like 3 or 4 sec. I assume that you have uploaded 100 pics, now if you choose a 4 sec ‘Slide duration’ then the total duration of the slide becomes 400 sec which is a little less than 420 sec or 7 mins (the length of your cover song). So my advice is that you precalculate the number of pics you need to upload. In this case for a 4 sec slide duration it should have been 105. For a slide duration of 5 sec, the total number of pics should have been 84. So you can see that the lengthier is the slide duration, the less is the number of uploaded pics required. I personally prefer a slide duration of 7 sec. (This tutorial is on How to make a video slideshow for YouTube.)

Besides slide duration, you also need to choose ‘Transition’ method. The available transition methods are Checkerboard, Circle, Crossbur, Crossfade, Crossing Stripes, Diamond, Heart, Horizontal Blinds, Puzzle, Radial Wipe, Slide, Star, Vertical Blinds, Wipe. Choose the one that suits you the most on this particular slideshow. You can also add music to your slideshow at this stage. To the right of the current page you will get to see a collection of most popular recent instrumental music, like in the table shown below. Try to choose a music that has almost the same length as your slideshow. Also try to choose one that would sound consistent and nice with your slide. (This tutorial is on How to make a video slideshow for YouTube.)

Then you need to click on the blue ‘Upload’ button which would be at the lower-right corner of the screen. Your slideshow video will start processing. You can change the name and description of the video and then be sure to press the ‘Done’ button. (You can even publish the video if this is it.)

If you need to use this slideshow of yours in a cover song or short biography, then you have to download it from your channel. For this purpose, just go to your channel’s video manager and then follow the short video given below: (This article is on How to make a video slideshow for YouTube.)

Youtube Videos Editor: Learn to use that properly

Most YouTubers don’t use YouTube’s built-in video editor. But it might a good idea to master some skills on this tool known as ‘Youtube Videos Editor’. Let’s try that now.

While you’re in your channel’s video manager, click on the ‘Edit’ button beside any video.

Youtube Videos

You will reach a page where you will see the following tabs/buttons.

Youtube Videos

Click on the ‘Enhancements’ Tab. This time you’ll reach another page. At the right-bottom of this page you will see the following button. Just click on it.

Youtube Videos

You will reach ‘Youtube Videos Editor’ page which has the url https://www.youtube.com/editor?feature=enhance

So if you know this url you can directly get to the editor page. Also, if you frequently visit this page you will find this url in the address bar of your browser, if you just start typing ‘youtube.com……’.

Once you’re on the ‘Youtube Videos Editor’ page, you will see your uploaded videos in the right side like in the picture below:

Also in the left-bottom portion you will see this:

Youtube Videos

You will either have to ‘Drag videos here’ where marked, or go to the upper-right corner of the video to be added and then click. In the following short video I’m going to show you how to add two videos and then keep first three minutes of the first video and then add the last 30 seconds of the second video. (In this case the second video clip duration is 1:03, so to have the last 30 seconds we just delete the first 33 seconds of it.)

When you’re done with all these, just hit the ‘Create Video’ button in the upper-right corner of the screen, your new video will start to process. It will have processed within different time-spans depending on the size of the video.

Previously YouTubers were free to use any of their uploaded videos in the YouTube videos editor. But recently YouTube has changed their policies regarding this issue. Now users can deal with only the videos that have not been published yet.

You can definitely add Youtube’s built-in free music audios to your videos. But to do that you first have to click on the music icon in the YouTube videos editor section.

Youtube Videos

Now in the following short video we’re going to show how to add music to your video. Try to choose a music-audio that has a consistent length and composure with your video. In this case we choose the ‘Jombo Happy’ music because it has the same length as our video and also the composure seems to be consistent with our video. We simply drag the music to the portion where it reads ‘Drag audio here’. You could also add the music by selecting it (by clicking) and clicking the ‘+’ button to the right end of the music.

Now that you have added the music, click on somewhere on the right grey empty space so that the video will start playing along with the music. Here you get to decide whether the music is consistent with your original video. If you don’t like the music and try another, then cancel the current one by hitting the cross button at the upper-right corner of the music itself. Then try adding another one and test like the previous one. Once you have tested the music with your video and decided to keep it, you can hit the ‘Create video’ button in the upper-right portion of the screen.

The drawback of this procedure of adding music to your video is that you can’t change adjust the volume-level of the music to suitably adapt with your video. For that we will show you another procedure of adding music to your video where you will be able to adjust the volume-level of the added music.
